In line with its mission to promote education and intellectual development within the Igbanke community, the Association of Igbanke Professionals (AIP) has undertaken the rehabilitation of the Igbanke Library, transforming it into a functional and conducive learning hub for students and residents alike.
Recognizing the vital role of libraries in fostering literacy, academic excellence, and lifelong learning, AIP took full responsibility for revitalizing the once-neglected facility. The rehabilitation project was carried out in multiple phases, each aimed at addressing key infrastructural and functional deficits that had rendered the library underutilized for years.
Key aspects of the rehabilitation included:
- Renovation of the Library Building
The entire library structure underwent extensive renovation. This included roof repairs, repainting, replacement of damaged doors and windows, installation of new shelves and furniture, and general reconditioning to ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for reading and research. - Provision of Modern Books and Learning Materials
AIP furnished the library with a broad selection of recent and relevant books, covering a wide range of disciplines such as science, literature, mathematics, history, and technology. Special attention was also given to providing educational materials tailored for secondary and tertiary-level students preparing for national examinations and academic pursuits. - Installation of Pipe-Borne Water Supply
To improve hygiene and comfort for users, the Association also facilitated the installation of a pipe-borne water system within the library premises. This addition was a critical part of creating a more welcoming environment for readers, especially students who may spend extended hours at the facility. - Creation of a Conducive Learning Atmosphere
The improved lighting, ventilation, and general aesthetics of the rehabilitated library have significantly enhanced its usability. The facility now stands as a symbol of community pride and a hub for academic engagement in Igbanke.
The intervention by AIP has been widely commended by local stakeholders, educational authorities, and the youth, who have expressed appreciation for the revival of a key educational resource. The library is now better positioned to support schoolwork, independent study, and the intellectual growth of the community.
The Association of Igbanke Professionals continues to demonstrate its commitment to community development through impactful projects such as this, staying true to its motto: “Pillar for Development.”
