MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILITY AND ADMISSION PROCESS

POINT OF INFORMATION

  • A Point of Information is intended to provide a contributor or the house with relevant and important details concerning the issue under discussion.
  • To raise a Point of Information, a member must indicate by raising their hand and announcing “Point of Information.” The member shall then have a maximum of one minute to present the information.
  • If a member already has the floor before recognizing another on a Point of Information, they shall remain standing while the information is being given.
  • A Point of Information should not be abused and must be requested strictly for the purpose of providing valuable and relevant information.

POINT OF ORDER

  • A Point of Order is raised to ensure that discussions remain aligned with the AIP Constitution, fundamental resolutions, and established rules, particularly in the event of any deviation.
  • To raise a Point of Order, a member must indicate by raising their hand and announcing “Point of Order.”
  • A Point of Order takes precedence over all other matters and MUST be recognized by the President.
  • Any member raising a Point of Order must clearly identify the breach and explain the specific aspect of the AIP Constitution, resolutions, or rules that has been violated.
  • If the presenter fails to state the breach, the President has the authority to rule them out of order, and the member MUST take their seat immediately.
